PACTS Submission to the TSC Young and Novice Driver Inquiry

The Transport Select Committee published PACTS’ evidence to their inquiry into young and novice driver safety on the 1st of September, 2020.

PACTS’ evidence is summarised below.

Failure to wear a seat belt is a major but overlooked contributor to the deaths of drivers and
passengers – particularly young people. Concerted action is needed and feasible. This would
particularly reduce casualties to young people. The catalyst would be to make it an endorsable
offence, with three penalty points or more.
